The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to raise the discount rate to 6.5% per annum, Deputy NBU Governor Yuriy Heletiy has said.
"The Board of the National Bank made a decision to raise the discount rate to 6.5% per annum," Heletiy said at a briefing on March 4, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
According to him, this decision is aimed at gradually reducing inflation to the target of 5%.
As Ukrinform reported, the discount rate at 6% has been in effect in Ukraine since June 2020. The NBU Board has several times decided to keep it at the same level since last summer.
