Ukraine expects signing of common aviation area agreement with EU – Shmyhal
He said this at a joint press conference with representatives of the European Commission in Brussels on Thursday, February 11, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We expect an agreement on a common aviation area between Ukraine and the EU to be signed in the near future," Shmyhal said.
He added that Ukraine had been waiting for this agreement for many years.
The Ukrainian President's Office reported on February 3 that the signing of the common aviation area agreement between Ukraine and the EU had been postponed due to bureaucratic reasons. The President's Office said that now "it is necessary to look for opportunities" to sign the agreement in March.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after the 22nd EU-Ukraine summit in October last year that the common aviation area agreement with the EU could be signed in 2021.
As Ukrinform reported, a government delegation led by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal is on a working visit to Brussels on Tuesday, February 9. The CMU has already met with the leadership of the European Union and NATO. Prime Minister Schmigal discussed a number of important issues with European Council President Charles Michel and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. A number of other important measures have been taken. On February 11, government officials took part in the seventh meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council in Brussels.
