Ukraine's national debt to decrease by 3.4% next year – Marchenko

Ukraine's draft state budget for 2021 provides for a reduction in the national debt by 3.4% - to 64.6% of GDP, Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has said.

He said this at a press briefing on the draft state budget for 2021 on September 14, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"We envisage a 3.4% reduction in the national debt next year, to 64.6%. There is a possibility that the national debt will grow this year. Next year, we assume a gradual reduction in the state debt," Marchenko said.

As Ukrinform reported, the draft state budget for 2021 envisages a 1.5% reduction in the budget deficit compared to 2020, to UAH 270 billion.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft state budget for 2021 at an extraordinary meeting on Monday, September 14.
