Witkowitz, a Czech company engaged in the manufacture of machine-building equipment, plans to invest at least EUR 50 million in Ukraine's state enterprise Yuzhmash (Dnipro) to create new production facilities, the enterprise's press service has reported on Facebook.

"The main task of the cooperation is to develop new projects for the reconstruction of railway diesel engines and the production of hydrogen engines. The estimated start of production is planned for the end of 2020. Three separate production zones will be created by this time: a wheel set repair shop with an investment of up to EUR 10 million, a wagon repair shop with an investment of up to EUR 2 million and a locomotive repair shop with up to EUR 10 million. In addition, it is planned to form a trading platform of an authorized dealer of Witkowitz," the report reads.

It notes that the project provides for long-term cooperation, which will result in the creation of authorized service centers for servicing locomotives and diesel engines, as well as a center for the overhaul of cars and wheel sets. Further plans include a plant manufacturing equipment for the production of hydrogen and a center for the re-equipment of locomotives.

The enterprise said that cooperation with Witkowitz should be another step towards finding new opportunities to load production, expand the geography of production cooperation and gain access to new markets. Currently, Yuzhmash is actively working in this area, as the situation with the load of production is still far from desirable.

Witkowitz is one of the most powerful machine-building plants in Central Europe. It was founded in the 19th century and today is a world-famous brand with innovative technological solutions.
