Ukrainian commercial vehicle market decreases by 16% in Q1 2020

The Ukrainian market of new commercial vehicles decreased by 16% in January-March 2020 compared with the relevant period of the last year, according to the Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association UkrAutoProm.

"In Q1 2020, 2,135 new commercial vehicles were registered, which is 16% less compared with the relevant period of the last year,” reads the report.

In March 2020, 568 new commercial vehicles were registered, which is 41% less than in March 2019.

Renault vehicles had the largest demand in March 2020, with 122 vehicles registered. Its share on the market decreased by 3% from the last year's results.

The second in terms of sales were Fiat vehicles, with 107 commercial vehicles registered, which is 22% less compared with March 2019.

Mercedes-Benz and Peugeot ranked third. They sold 54 commercial vehicles each in March 2020. The number of Peugeot registered vehicles decreased by 16% year-on-year, and the number of Mercedes-Benz registered vehicles - by 39%.

The association stressed that such a decrease in the market of new commercial vehicles was due to the nationwide quarantine and some anti-epidemic measures introduced in Ukraine on March 12, 2020.

As Ukrinform reported, 12.4 thousand new commercial vehicles were sold in Ukraine in 2019, which is almost 3% less than a year earlier.
