Ukraine’s exports of goods in January exceed imports by $138 mln - State Statistics Service

"In January 2020, exports of goods amounted to $4,156.7 million, or 102.3% compared to January 2019, imports made up $4,018.6 million, or 98.6%. The positive balance was $138.1 million (the negative balance was $15.9 million in January 2019),” reads the report.

Foreign trade operations were carried out with partners from 197 countries.

Ukraine exported the largest volumes of goods to China (for almost $448.4 million; an increase of 178.7% from the relevant period in 2019), Turkey ($283.1 million; an increase of 38.9%) and Poland ($269.9 million; an increase of 1.5%).

Among the top exported goods were grains (for $952.4 million, up 21.9%), ferrous metals ($713.3 million, down 27.2%), fats and oils ($454.0 million, up 29.5%).

Over the reporting month, the largest amount of goods imported to Ukraine came from China (for about $650.4 million; up 5.6% from January 2019), the Russian Federation ($418.3 million; up 31.1%) and Germany ($395.7 million, up 16.1%).

The main commodity positions of Ukrainian imports included machinery and equipment (for $801.8 million, up 2.1%), mineral fuels, oil and products of its distillation (for $748.5 million, down 15.3%), chemical and related industries (for about $519.8 million, down 4.9%).

As Ukrinform reported, Ukrainian exports of goods totaled $50.06 billion in 2019, up 5.8% compared with 2018; Ukrainian imports reached $60.78 billion, up 6.3%.
