Ukraine, Belarus to cancel permits for road transportation

"On February 6, 2020, Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii and Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus Alexey Avramenko signed a Protocol between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Belarus to amend the Agreement, as of December 17, 1992, between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on the international road transportation,” reads the report.

The Ukrainian ministry explained that the Protocol provides for exemption from the permit system for non-scheduled road transportation of goods and passengers.

Kryklii also reminded that Ukraine had previously signed such a document with two countries:  with Switzerland in May 2016 and with the United Kingdom in June 2019.

He also stressed that the absence of barriers like the permits would provide new opportunities not only for road transportation, but also for the development of trade between the two countries, noting that the amendment would also help reduce the financial burden on carriers.
