Ukraine to cut electricity imports to zero from November 15 – Gerus

Ukrinform
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities Services, Andriy Gerus, has stated that electricity imports will drop to zero from November 15.

In a post on his Facebook page, he wrote: “Dispatchers have been restricting electricity imports to a minimum level for several days. During certain hours, it is less than 50 MW (with a total consumption of 15,000–20,000 MW). I think that such imports will drop to zero from November 15, since importers are sick and tired of losses”.

He has also added that the power unit with a capacity of 1,000 MW at Khmelnytskyi NPP has resumed operation and there will be 12 out of 15 power units in operation at Ukrainian nuclear power plants (as of early September, 9 out of 15 power units were running).

As Ukrinform reported, Andriy Gerus earlier stated that due to the cheapening of domestic electricity in late October, it became unprofitable to import it from the Russian Federation, so some companies suspended imports in November.
