Some 100 to 200 weigh-in-motion (WIM) sites will be put up on Ukrainian roads following the implementation of a respective pilot project, the press service of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) has reported on Facebook.

"The next steps by Ukravtodor, based on the experience gained and data obtained from the WIM system, will be the development of a program to spread the weigh-in-motion system to the network of Ukrainian roads (about 100-200 sites), which will help maintain the high transport and operational characteristics of the roads that were repaired and built in the last four years," the report reads.

It notes that six sites will operate in the pilot mode in Ukraine.

The first two WIM sites began to operate in Ukraine on September 20. In general, the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry, with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, started implementing the project in 2017. An international tender for the implementation of a pilot project to develop and install the WIM system worth $5 million was conducted in 2018.
