Ukraine substantially expanded the markets for Ukrainian products of animal and plant origin in 2018, according to Volodymyr Lapa, chairman of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

"Judging by the absolute volume of trade, Ukraine has managed to achieve a breakthrough in the export of livestock products on certain commodity items over the past ten years. And last year saw the expansion of the geography of export supplies of our state and an increase in the number of enterprises that got the right to export food products of animal origin," the service's press office quoted him as saying during the presentation of a public report on the service's performance in 2018.

According to Lapa, 85 new markets for different types of products opened in 2018, in particular, the markets of Albania (poultry and poultry products), Ghana (poultry and poultry products), Hong Kong (poultry and poultry products, eggs and egg products), North Macedonia (dairy products, feed), Morocco (poultry and poultry products, egg products), the UAE (live sheep and goats, day-old chicks, live poultry, hatching eggs), Serbia (eggs and egg products), Tajikistan (meat, meat and dairy products, fish and fish products, raw materials of animal origin, food of plant origin), Tunisia (poultry), Turkey (fresh, chilled, frozen meat in carcasses), Montenegro (eggs and egg products), etc.

In addition, due to the process of bringing Ukrainian legislation and standards into line with the best EU practices, 306 Ukrainian enterprises have the right to export products to the countries of the European Union, including 126 food producers (poultry, fish, honey, eggs, and dairy products).
