The supply of food products from Ukraine to Asia and the CIS continued to grow in January-September 2018, amid a decline in exports to the European Union and Africa.

India remains the largest importer, as it purchased 10% of Ukrainian agricultural products, according to the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics."

"The position of the main importer of domestic agricultural products has been occupied for several years by Asian countries, which bought $5.7 billion worth of Ukrainian food products in the first nine months of 2018. Asia's share during this period amounted to 43.8% of total exports of agricultural products," the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry said.

The EU countries account for about a third of domestic exports of agricultural products - 31.5%. They purchased Ukrainian food for $4.1 billion in January-September 2018.

Exports to African countries amounted to $1.7 billion, or 13.1% of total exports of agricultural products.

There is a tendency to revival of exports of domestic agricultural products to the CIS countries, which was observed last year. In January-September 2018, countries in this region imported $1.1 billion worth of Ukrainian food, or 8.5% of total exports of agricultural products.

In the first nine months of 2018, the ranking of countries importing Ukraine's agricultural products was traditionally headed by India. Purchasing food for $1.404 billion, it secured a share of over 10% in total exports of Ukrainian agricultural products.

The Netherlands took second place ($780 million). It outpaced Egypt, which imported $721 million worth of agricultural products from Ukraine and took fourth place. China is third ($740 million). Ukrainian exporters also received significant revenues from Spain ($598 million), Turkey ($541 million), and Italy ($540 million). These seven countries ensured 41% of revenues from exports of agricultural products from Ukraine in January-September 2018.
