Ukraine reduces gas imports from EU by almost 25%

In January-September 2018, Ukraine decreased natural gas imports by 24.7% compared with the corresponding period last year due to significant gas reserves in the underground storage facilities.

"Since the beginning of 2018, gas imports from Europe have decreased by 24.7% compared to the same period in 2017 due to significant gas reserves in the underground storage facilities," the Operator of the Ukrainian GTS , a subsidiary of PJSC Ukrtransgaz, reports.

As noted, in January-September 2018, 8.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas were delivered from EU countries, showing decrease of 2.6 billion cubic meters compared with the same period last year. The largest gas volumes were imported via the gas transmission corridor from Slovakia - 5.0 billion cubic meters (-36% compared to this date last year), Hungary - 2.5 billion cubic meters (+ 28%) and Poland – 0.5 billion cubic meters (-37%).
