The train traffic through the Beskydy tunnel, which was opened two months ago, picks up steam.

"The train traffic through the Beskydy tunnel, which was opened two months ago, picks up steam. Over the two past months, 1,828 freight trains, 92,297 freight wagons and 442 passenger and suburban trains ran through the tunnel towards the western borders and backwards. The speed of freight trains increased up to 60 km / h, passenger trains - up to 70 km / h," President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko posted on Facebook.

As the President added, the Beskydy tunnel is a symbol of cooperation between Ukrzaliznytsya Ukrainian Railways, Ukrainian authorities, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.

"I believe that the train traffic through the tunnel will become more intensive and will promote the investment and infrastructure capabilities of the state," the Head of State noted.

The Beskydy tunnel, which is a part of the international transport corridor, running through the territory of Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and further towards the East, was opened on May 24.
