The total passenger traffic of Ukrainian airports in 2016 decreased to 13 million passengers, considering foreigners.

Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian stated this during a round table meeting entitled "Liberalization and Development of Ukraine’s Aviation Industry: Initiatives and Challenges", an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“Despite the fact that the population of Ukraine exceeds 40 million people, and despite the record growth in passenger traffic by more than 30% last year, all Ukrainian airports served only 13 million passengers in 2016 - and these are not only Ukrainian passengers, but also foreign ones," the minister said.

He noted that in neighboring Poland, which has a population of 38.6 million, airports serve 34 million passengers per year.
