Transparency International: Ukraine is just 38 points from maximum ‘tolerance of corruption’

Ukraine occupies 130th place in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) out of 168 positions and is close to Zimbabwe.

Spokesperson for the Transparency International Ukraine Olha Timchenko said this, presenting the study results at the press conference.

"The tolerance of corruption in Ukraine is quite high. The CPI of the country is 27 points out of 100 possible. In the world ranking, Ukraine occupies 130th place out of 168 positions and is close to Zimbabwe. Transparency examined the impact of tolerance of corruption on the happiness index and found that people living in less tolerant of corruption countries are happier," she noted.

According to the study, 22% of Ukrainians are tolerant of corruption, while the level of economic freedom of Ukraine is 46.8 points and the happiness index is 22.21 points.
