Only MPs fully receive benefits - People's Collegium of Ukraine
Member of the initiative group for creation of such a body under the Social Policy Ministry and public activist of Vinnytsia Iryna Kasian has said about this at a meeting of the People's Collegium of Ukraine, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian budget does not envisage payments to all beneficiaries, except for people's deputies, who receive them fully. This is over UAH 100 million a year. Instead of sending this money to, in particular, diseased children, who would undergo rehabilitation, treatment, receive specialization in order to feel themselves full-fledged members of the society,” Iryna Kasian said.
According to her, on support from the Social Policy Ministry, people's controllers initiated a draft law “On Amendments to the Law “On the Status of People's Deputy,” which concerns limitation of benefits to people's deputies and introduction of fines for absence at plenary meetings and committee meetings.
Kasian also said that over a period of the People's Collegium of Ukraine's existence since February, 445 addresses were sent to higher authorities, however, “only responses from 25 people's deputies were received and three from ministries and departments.”
Participating in the People's Collegium of Ukraine are over 200 representatives from different regions of Ukraine, who have an idea to take under their control activities of power authorities in the social policy sphere.
