Ukroboronprom presents first serial tank Oplot
KYIV, July 1 /Ukrinform/. Ukroboronprom State Concern has presented the first serial tank Oplot, produced at the Kharkiv-based Malyshev Plant.
"Ukroboronprom has presented the first serial tank Oplot. This is a new generation tank with new technology and world-class innovation," the report says.
The serial model was inspected by representatives of the Royal Thai Army, led by the commander of the Armored Forces Bunsantin Sansavat. They came to Kharkiv to review the progress of the contract for the supply to Thailand of 49 units of the main battle tanks Oplot.
The Thai inspectors were demonstrated driveability and performance characteristics of the Oplot tank, made pursuant to the contract.
Ukroboronprom General Director Serhiy Hromov noted that the company fulfills its obligations to Thailand in the agreed time frame. According to him, the contract will be fully completed by the end of 2014.
Hromov also noted that the Ukrainian-Thai agreement is of fundamental importance for the country and for Ukroboronprom SC. After all, it boosts the production capacity of Ukrainian enterprises and allows Ukraine to develop as a world leading manufacturer and exporter of military equipment.
A reminder that in September 2011, the state-controlled arms exporter Ukrspecexport and the operational command of the Royal Thai Army signed a contract to supply to Thailand 49 units of the main battle tank Oplot. The total contract value exceeds USD 200 million.
