Cabinet will ask PGO to intervene with AeroSvit situation
KYIV, January 14 /UKRINFORM/. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has established a working group to examine the situation with the airline AeroSvit. The government also wants to ask the Prosecutor General's Office to examine incidents of canceling the company's flights, UKRINFORM learned from a Ukrainian government source.
"The Cabinet meeting was held today to examine the situation involving mass cancellation of AeroSvit flights. It was decided that a working group will be created, including, in particular, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Vitaliy Zakharchenko. The Government also intends to apply to the Prosecutor General's Office for investigating the situation over the airline," the source said.
As reported, in early January, AeroSvit faced a lot of problems with making flights: a number of airports (Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Copenhagen and Stockholm) and partners refused to serve the airline.
According to the press service of Ukraine International Airlines, AeroSvit began to transfer its assets to Ukraine International Airlines. In particular, the UIA replenished its fleet with two modern aircraft Boeing 737-800, which have been used by AeroSvit.
December 29, AeroSvit appealed to the Commercial Court of Kyiv Region for initiating bankruptcy proceedings in order to begin the rehabilitation procedure, restore solvency and ensure that the obligations to creditors be met in full. The hearing will be held at the preparatory meeting on January 23, 2013.
As of December 27, the debt of AeroSvit exceeded 4.2 billion UAH; and the total carrying value of its assets was 1.46 billion UAH.
