Free trade zone within the Commonwealth of Independent States is an important factor for the Ukrainian industry, Party of Regions' leader Mykola Azarov said in an interview with the Mykolayiv regional television and radio broadcasting company during his Friday's trip to Mykolaiv region.

"Free trade zone within the Commonwealth is a powerful factor for our businesses," Azarov said.

In this regard, he stressed the need to expand trade with other countries. "We must continue working hard to find and create favorable conditions for trade with other countries," the Party of Regions leader said.

He also said that Ukraine is in talks with six countries to establish a free trade zone in the CIS, and added that a great effort is also made to form a free trade area with the European Union.

All of these steps by the government, Azarov added, are intended to "provide maximum opportunities for investment to come to this country, and our companies to enter the markets of other countries."

In this regard, Azarov expressed the need for a comprehensive program of loading Ukraine's mechanical engineering and metallurgy.
