Zelensky details plans to strengthen Ukraine’s small counter-drone air defense
The Ukrainian President reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform says.
“A high-priority meeting on advancing short-range counter-drone air defense. We are significantly strengthening this component within the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We approved the structure of a new command that will oversee this particular area of air defense, along with new management approaches. I also set key tasks for the Air Force team and the Ministry of Defense,” the statement said.
In particular, the President noted that protection against Russian drones must be strengthened in cities such as Kherson and Nikopol, as well as in border communities of the Sumy region.
Another task, he said, is scaling up countermeasures against Shahed drones and other Russian strike UAVs.
“There will be more lines of defense and protection,” Zelensky emphasized.
In addition, the President said it is important to spread the experience of successful units within the Defense Forces so that every solution that has worked for one unit can also be successfully applied by other Ukrainian units.
As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Minister of Defense and the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to build up drone defense along the line between the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
