UK signs GBP 30M to supply attack drones to Ukraine
This was reported on the British government website, Ukrinform saw.
As noted, the deal was agreed ahead of Defence Secretary John Healey’s meeting with his American counterpart Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon on Thursday.
Healy also visited the premises of Anduril company premises in Washington.
The new contracts, totaling almost GBP 30 million (over $38.6 million), will result in Anduril supplying cutting-edge Altius 600m and Altius 700m drones, designed to monitor an area before striking targets that enter it.
“We are determined to achieve a secure, lasting peace in Ukraine, which means putting Ukraine in the strongest possible position to prevent any return to Russian aggression,” said Healey.
Work with Anduril UK was led by Defence Equipment & Support, the MoD’s procurement arm, on behalf of the UK-led International Fund for Ukraine (IFU).
It is noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive the drones, launchers, and spare parts in the coming months.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine and the United Kingdom had signed an emergency loan agreement worth GBP 2.26 billion (about $3 billion) for the purchase of defense materiel.
