UAH 200 bln to be allocated for Ukraine’s security and defense sector next year

About UAH 200 billion will be allocated for Ukraine’s security and defense sector next year.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov said this at the meeting on formation of Ukraine's defense budget for 2019, the NSDC press office reports.

Turchynov noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine forecasted the GDP at the level of UAH 3,946 billion in 2019. Therefore, financing of Ukraine’s security and defense sector, which should amount to at least 5% of GDP, will total about UAH 200 billion, he noted.

According to the secretary, the priority directions of financing for the next year are design and purchase of modern high-precision missile weapons (missile systems and complexes, in particular, cruise missiles), artillery weapons, armored vehicles, ammunition and special chemistry products, strengthening the air defense system of the state and the capabilities of the national air forces; implementation of the cybersecurity national policy, implementation of measures for the development and modernization of special communication and information security and so on.
