Ukrainian teen sentenced in Germany for killing Ukrainian woman and her child
That is according to Der Spiegel, Ukrinform reports.
"The Essen Regional Court has sentenced a 16-year-old to ten years in juvenile detention. The teenager from Dorsten in North Rhine-Westphalia was found guilty of the deaths of a mother and her infant daughter," the report said.
Due to the defendant's young age, the trial was held entirely behind closed doors. A court spokeswoman stated that the teenager confessed to killing a neighbor and her one-year-and-seven-month-old daughter by kicking and punching them in June of last year.
The crime scene was a forest path in Dorsten, in the Recklinghausen district. According to the verdict, sexual activity had taken place between the woman and the young man, who holds Ukrainian citizenship, prior to the crime.
The day after the crime, the 16-year-old returned to the scene and surrendered to police officers who were still working there.
The circumstances of the case remain unclear. The teenager was convicted of double murder.
