Court in Vinnytsia region begins hearing in case of teacher killing two students
This was reported on Telegram by the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor’s Office, as cited by Ukrinform.
“On January 22, a preparatory hearing took place at the Vinnytsia City Court in the case of the intentional murder of two underage boys on September 10, 2025, in Sharhorod,” the statement reads.
It is noted that the court scheduled the trial based on the indictment against the 23-year-old man, accused of intentionally killing two people (Part 1, Article 115, Section 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), which was submitted by juvenile prosecutors in December 2025.
According to the Vinnytsia City Court, during the preparatory hearing, the panel of judges decided to proceed with the trial based on the indictment, accept the civil lawsuit from the victims’ families for moral damages, and conduct the trial in an open court session.
At the prosecutor’s request, the court also extended the defendant’s preventive measure – detention without bail – for 60 days.
As previously reported, a 23-year-old teacher was detained in the Vinnytsia region after killing two of his former students on March 10, 2025, in Sharhorod. He waited for the tenth- and eleventh-grade students on their way to school and suddenly attacked them with penetrating stab and cut wounds to the neck. The children died from their injuries while receiving emergency medical care.
