The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has exposed an active supporter of “rashism” in Cherkasy who holds a Russian passport and a permanent residence permit in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Facebook by the SSU’s Cherkasy Regional Office.

“The Security Service of Ukraine has uncovered another pro-Russian online agitator who justified the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the war crimes committed by Russian forces. According to the investigation, the suspect is a 51-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation who holds a permanent residence permit in Ukraine. He actively commented on propagandist posts by Russian actors on Telegram, openly supporting the full-scale war,” the statement said.

In addition, the agitator spread disinformation about Ukrainian Defense Forces personnel and the operational situation on the front line.

A linguistic examination initiated by the Security Service confirmed the suspect’s involvement in information-subversive activities in the interests of the Russian Federation.

SSU investigators have served the suspect with a notice of suspicion under Parts 1 and 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justifying, recognizing as lawful, or denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, as well as glorifying its participants).

The suspect faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.

The comprehensive measures were carried out by officers of the SSU’s Cherkasy Regional Office under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s office.
