Terrorist attack in Lviv: Two women involved – SSU
The Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Ivan Rudnytskyi, stated this during a briefing, Ukrinform’s correspondent reports.
According to Rudnytskyi, the suspect who was remanded in custody today was detained while traveling toward the state border. Her alleged accomplice was detained by law enforcement officers in Kharkiv.
According to law enforcement data, a resident of the Kharkiv region had been promised UAH 2,000 "for carrying out certain tasks." Security officials say that she had previously taken out a loan of UAH 60,000.
"They promised her money but did not give it. And I can state with confidence that together with the police we have uncovered a number of cases where our citizens were involved, and none of them received any money after committing a criminal act," the deputy head of the SSU said.
He emphasized that in 2024 the number of attempted terrorist attacks in Ukraine increased, and most of them were solved.
"If we are talking about terrorist attacks, then together during this time we have solved 78 percent of such crimes," Rudnytskyi stated.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant, not to respond to suspicious offers on the internet, and to inform law enforcement about recruitment attempts.
As Ukrinform previously reported, explosions were heard in Lviv on the night of February 22. Police stated that the explosions occurred after patrol officers arrived at the scene following a call.
Preliminary findings indicate that improvised explosive devices detonated. As a result of the terrorist attack, a 23-year-old policewoman was killed. It is also known that 25 people were injured, three of them in critical condition.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the detention of a suspected bomber. She turned out to be a 33-year-old resident of the Rivne region. The suspect was detained in a controlled border area of the city of Staryi Sambir in the Lviv region.
According to law enforcement information, the 33-year-old woman suspected of carrying out the terrorist attack in Lviv had been offered $1,000 for each explosive device. She manufactured them under the guidance of her handler.
