SSU detains GRU agent filming strategic sites across western Ukraine
According to Ukrinform, the SSU reported this.
The enemy agent was also monitoring mobile communication towers and key facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) with the highest intensity of freight train traffic.
The detainee is a 42-year-old internally displaced person from the Luhansk region. In order to obtain a deferment from mobilization, he got a job at a critically important enterprise.

It was established that the suspect acted on instructions from Russia’s military intelligence service (the GRU). He was recruited remotely through a relative living in temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
The man traveled across western regions in his own vehicle with a dashcam turned on, recording the geolocations of strategic sites. He then sent the recorded videos to his GRU handler.
Law enforcement officers exposed the enemy agent at the very beginning of his intelligence activities. His actions were documented, and he was detained at his place of residence.
During searches, officers seized a smartphone containing evidence of reconnaissance trips and communications with the Russian handler, whose identity has already been established by the SSU counterintelligence.
Investigators have served the suspect with a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – high treason committed under martial law.
The suspect is being held in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, two men were detained in the Donetsk region for collecting coordinates for Russian military intelligence to strike positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces in the Kramatorsk sector.
