The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) and the National Police have detained three more Russian agents who carried out arson attacks in eastern and western regions of Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, the SSU reported this.

The perpetrators turned out to be local residents recruited by the enemy who were seeking easy money through Telegram channels.

In Kharkiv, a 21-year-old Russian agent was detained after setting fire to a military SUV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that was undergoing maintenance following combat missions at the front.

To commit the crime, he poured a flammable liquid on the car’s hood and set it alight.

The SSU’s military counterintelligence detained him while he was preparing to commit further crimes in the frontline city.

In Chernivtsi region, a 24-year-old repeat offender, previously convicted of car theft, was exposed.

After being released in the summer of 2024, he received an assignment from Russia to set fire to Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railway) energy facilities in western Ukraine.

To carry out the crime, he recruited his 34-year-old acquaintance. Both were detained after setting fire to a local relay cabinet.

The detainees remain in custody. They face between eight years in prison and life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As reported by Ukrinform earlier, the SSU exposed a Russian military intelligence (GRU) agent network that was directing Russian airstrikes on Kyiv and conducting sabotage in southern Ukraine.
