Top SSU officer accused of illegal enrichment

The SAPO press service reported this, according to Ukrinform.

According to the investigation, in December 2023 the suspect purchased an apartment worth UAH 21.6 million and registered it under a family member’s name. The purchase contract indicated a value of UAH 12.8 million.

To justify the origin of the funds, the family member declared that the money was earned as a private entrepreneur providing legal and consulting services since February 2022.

Investigators established that the entrepreneur’s accounts did indeed receive payments allegedly for such services. However, the funds came from an individual suspected of embezzling money from JSC Ukrzaliznytsia as part of an organized criminal group, as well as from companies controlled by this individual.

“Collected evidence shows that no actual services were provided and that the companies involved bore signs of fictitious activity. Moreover, there is no confirmation of the lawful origin of the remaining UAH 8.8 million spent on the apartment purchase,” the SAPO stressed.

As reported earlier, six officials in Kyiv have been charged with causing over UAH 46 million in damages to the city budget and a private company.
