Woman struck by car driven by prosecutor's office employee in Kyiv dies
Ukraine's Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
Kravchenko said that Molochnyi is being charged under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violating traffic rules while intoxicated, resulting in the death of a person.
Toxicology tests revealed that the suspect had a blood alcohol level of 1.77 promille.
Kravchenko stated that the Prosecutor General's Office would seek a pre-trial detention measure of 60 days without the possibility of bail.
"I am personally overseeing the case as the lead prosecutor — starting with the detention request — and I will represent the prosecution in court," he said.
On July 19, on Velyka Vasylkivska Street in Kyiv, a prosecutor's office employee, Andrii Molochnyi, struck a woman in a pedestrian area and fled the scene. He was later detained, and the prosecutor general took the case under his personal supervision.
Medical personnel provided emergency care to the victim, but she later died in the hospital.
