Russian light armor movements seen in south, no sign of major offensive – military

This was reported to Ukrinform by Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesperson for the Defense Forces of the South.

“We are seeing certain movements of enemy equipment, primarily involving their (Russian) airborne forces – light armored vehicles, BMDs (airborne infantry fighting vehicles). However, these are not large groupings that would indicate preparations for a major offensive,” the spokesperson explained.

According to Voloshyn, this equipment is being used to make up for losses, rotate units, and replace forces that have suffered casualties in combat.

“For example, over the past week, the enemy has lost nearly 2,000 personnel and almost 800 pieces of weapons and military equipment,” he added.

The spokesperson noted that these resource movements are intended to restore combat capability, regroup forces, and continue assault operations in certain sectors of the front.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, 206 combat engagements between Ukraine’s Defense Forces and Russian troops were recorded along the frontline over the past day, April 19.
