Drone attack leaves large part of Sumy region without power, outages hit three other regions

As of the morning of April 1, there are widespread power outages in the Sumy region due to an ongoing massive drone attack. Power outages have also affected consumers in three other regions as a result of the attacks.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the National Energy Company “Ukrenergo” on Facebook.

“The situation in the Sumy region is currently the most critical. A massive drone attack on energy infrastructure has been ongoing there since last night. A significant number of settlements in the region are without power due to damaged equipment. Energy workers have not yet been able to promptly begin restoration work due to air raid alerts and the threat of repeated strikes,” the statement reads.

In addition, as a result of Russian attacks on energy facilities, there are new power outages in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions as of this morning. Energy workers have begun restoration efforts wherever the security situation permits.

As of 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, electricity consumption is 1.2% higher than the previous day. The reason for the upward trend in consumption is cloudy weather across all regions of Ukraine.

Due to the consequences of previous massive attacks on the power grid, power restriction schedules for industrial consumers will be enforced from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

"Given the weather conditions, there is a need for energy conservation throughout the day in all regions today. Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances until 10:00 p.m. and do not turn on several such appliances at the same time," Ukrenergo advises.

As reported, Bulgaria is preparing an aid package of energy equipment to repair Ukrainian power plants.
