Ukrainian Navy warns of potential Russian unmanned boat use in Black Sea
According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk announced this on Ukrainian television.
"We consider this threat to be real. The Russians periodically release such information into the media space about how they are developing these technologies, and even before the full-scale invasion they already had unmanned boats in service. We must remain vigilant, as Russia has limited options left for influencing the maritime domain. Therefore, we are monitoring the situation and drawing conclusions," Pletenchuk said.
At the same time, he noted that Ukraine remains a driving force in the use of unmanned systems, as demonstrated during joint exercises between Ukraine and NATO off the coast of Portugal.
"These exercises once again showed that Ukraine remains something of a driver in certain areas. This applies both to the use of unmanned systems and to battle management systems," Pletenchuk said.
He added that the headquarters of one of the sides during the exercises was led by representatives of the Ukrainian Navy, who "performed quite successfully." Representatives of other components of Ukraine's defense and security forces also took part, using their standard equipment, while Ukrainian drones carried out the main role.
Earlier reports said that Russia had tested the Skorlupa naval drone capable of carrying FPV drones.
