Ukrainian negotiating team has no mandate to trade peace for impunity, says Kyslytsya

Sergiy Kyslytsya, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated that the Ukrainian negotiating team had never discussed any scenario in which peace could be exchanged for impunity.

He said this during the Justice Conference, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“In the directives given to the Ukrainian delegation by the current President, there is absolutely no room to attempt a trade of peace for impunity. This is a firmly principled position. We have never negotiated – neither in Istanbul, Geneva, Abu Dhabi, nor last week again in Geneva – neither with the Russian side nor with the American side, on any scenario in which peace could be exchanged for impunity,” Kyslytsya emphasized.

He explained that one reason the so-called 28-point plan was reduced to 20 points is that the Ukrainian side made it clear in negotiations that it would not discuss any proposals that contradict the Constitution of Ukraine.
