Zelensky arrives in Sweden, announces upcoming decisions regarding Gripen fighter jets
The head of state announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"I am in Sweden today on a working visit. We are preparing a major defense package for Ukraine and a strong step regarding Gripen fighter jets, which will definitely make our combat aviation more effective. Meetings are scheduled today with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, and representatives of the Swedish defense industry will also be present in the delegation format," Zelensky said.
He noted that, as part of the visit, meetings are planned with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, and representatives of Sweden's defense industry will also take part in delegation-level discussions.
As previously reported, on May 7, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held a series of meetings in Sweden aimed at increasing both the quantity and quality of military assistance to Ukraine. The focus was on preparatory work for signing contracts regarding Gripen fighter jets.
In February, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine had agreements with international partners on the delivery of 150 Swedish Gripen combat aircraft.
