About 80 buildings in Kyiv remain without heating – mayor

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said this in a Telegram post, Ukrinform reports.

He recalled that due to the large-scale accident in Ukraine's energy system on Saturday, January 31, a total of 3,419 apartment buildings in the capital were left without heating.

Municipal services and energy workers, the mayor said, are working around the clock to restore heat supply to residential buildings.

In apartment blocks where emergency situations arise due to severe frost and power outages, specialists are also carrying out urgent repair work.

Early on January 31, a technological disruption between the power systems of Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine caused a cascading outage in Ukraine's power grid, triggering automatic protection systems at substations. The most severe consequences were recorded in Kyiv and central Ukraine, as well as in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, as well as the Vinnytsia and Sumy regions.

On February 1, the high-voltage line between Ukraine and Moldova was repaired.

On the afternoon of February 2, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 200 buildings in Kyiv were still without heating.
