Russian army attacks Sumy and Shostka communities with drones, damaging infrastructure

On the night and morning of Monday, January 19, Russian troops attacked Sumy and Shostka communities with drones, damaging residential and civilian infrastructure.

According to Ukrinform, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported this on Telegram.

In the Shostka community, an enemy drone targeted a civilian infrastructure facility. The aftermath of the strike is being dealt with, and restoration work is ongoing.

In Sumy, two strikes by Russian UAVs on civilian targets, including residential buildings and transport, were recorded.

In the Zarichnyi district, an apartment in a high-rise building was damaged.

In the Kovpakivskyi district, a building and civilian cars parked nearby were damaged as a result of a strike on a civilian infrastructure facility.

“Fortunately, in all cases, there were no casualties or injuries,” the Sumy Regional Military Administration noted.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported on Facebook that during the day, from the morning of January 18 to the morning of January 19, nearly 80 strikes were carried out on 33 settlements in 15 territorial communities of the Sumy region.

The enemy used artillery, mortars, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs.

"In the Hlukhiv community, private cars and houses were damaged. In the Bereza community, a non-residential building was damaged. In the Yampil community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged. In the Sumy community, an apartment building, non-residential premises, civilian infrastructure facilities, and passenger cars were damaged. In the Mykolaivka rural community, a private car was destroyed. In the Richky community, private residential buildings and a passenger car were damaged. In the Shostka community, a civilian infrastructure facility was damaged," the statement said.

Another 28 people were evacuated from the border communities.

As reported by Ukrinform, on January 18, water supply facilities in Sumy were left without power.
