Druzhkivka blacked out, backup power keeps heat and communications running
According to Ukrinform, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadym Filashkin wrote about this on Facebook after holding a meeting with relevant structural departments of the regional administration, law enforcement agencies, and municipal services to discuss the situation in Druzhkivka.
“The town has been without power for almost a day as a result of shelling by Russian invaders. The situation is aggravated by freezing temperatures and constant enemy attacks. Thanks to alternative power sources, mobile communications are currently functioning in the community, and heat is being supplied to residential buildings,” the regional governor said.
He noted that resilience centers in the town are operating around the clock and are equipped with heating, electricity, communications and internet access, medicines, and rest areas. Hot meals have also been organized.
According to Filashkin, everything possible is currently being done to restore electricity to the community as quickly as possible.
“We discussed possible ways to restore power supply and issued relevant instructions to all services involved in the process. Together, we are doing everything possible to ensure normal living conditions in communities where the security situation allows. However, the enemy has significantly intensified shelling, which complicates the restoration of damaged networks,” the head of the regional administration explained.
He once again emphasized the need for evacuation from Druzhkivka and other frontline communities.
As reported by Ukrinform, in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, a boiler house in a residential district was damaged as a result of a Russian attack, and water is currently being drained from the district heating and water supply systems.
