Ukraine strengthens defense cooperation with Estonia — PM Svyrydenko

During her visit to Tallinn, Yuliia Svyrydenko met with Estonian President Alar Karis, Speaker of Parliament Lauri Hussar, and Prime Minister Kristen Michal.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

The parties agreed to strengthen defense cooperation, particularly in the field of unmanned systems, and to maintain a constant exchange of experience in responding to security challenges.

“Estonia continues to support our energy sector—its contribution to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine has already exceeded 2.6 million euros. At the same time, Ukraine is ready to share its own experience in energy decentralization and system management under difficult conditions,” Svyrydenko noted.

She called Estonia a reliable ally on Ukraine’s path to the European Union and expressed gratitude for its support in securing an EU loan for our country.

Senior officials from both countries also discussed further increasing pressure on Russia, including work on the 21st package of sanctions and countering the shadow fleet.

Special attention was given to the work of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative to return Ukrainian children who were illegally taken to Russia.

Svyrydenko also noted that Estonia was the first country whose parliament ratified the agreement to establish a Special Tribunal on the crime of aggression against Ukraine. Work is simultaneously underway to create a compensation mechanism.

“Thank you for your participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction and for the projects already underway in the Zhytomyr region. Ahead of us is the Conference on Ukraine’s Recovery in Gdańsk, where we will expand our cooperation,” noted the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, the prime ministers of Ukraine and Latvia discussed the possibility of accelerating the transfer of equipment from Latvian thermal power plants to restore energy facilities in Ukrainian cities.
