Freight locomotive engineer and assistant injured in Russian drone attack

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, on Facebook.

"Unfortunately, the driver and assistant driver of a freight locomotive have been injured (shrapnel wounds). The Shahed flew in close to the locomotive. The monitoring team issued a warning about the threat, and the crew did a great job - they managed to secure the locomotive safely, but unfortunately, they could not evacuate - they could only lie down," Pertsovskyi said.

Currently, doctors have removed the shrapnel and applied stitches. Both men are in stable condition, and other locomotive colleagues are waiting nearby at the hospital. All necessary assistance is being provided.

"Also, due to a power outage at night in Prydniprovsk, we switched to thermal traction and generators. As of now, power has been restored to the contact network in the main areas, and we are partially continuing to operate with diesel locomotives. And a number of minor incidents affecting the railway infrastructure are being quickly resolved without impacting traffic," Pertsovskyi emphasized.

As reported by Ukrinform, as a result of nighttime shelling, more than 60 trains are running behind schedule. Among them are international and long-distance trains.
