The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has stated that the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), Denys Kapustin, is alive and that the Russian special services' operation to kill him has failed.

According to Ukrinform, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported this on Facebook.

“The failure of the Russian special services - RVC commander Denys Kapustin is alive, and the half a million dollars received for his elimination will strengthen the special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate,” the statement said.

The assassination of the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps, which is fighting against Moscow as part of the DIU's Timur Special Forces, was ordered by the Russian special services, which allocated half a million dollars for the crime.

As a result of a complex special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate, which lasted more than a month, the life of Kapustin, whom Russian dictator Vladimir Putin considers his personal enemy, was saved, and a circle of individuals involved in the crime within the Russian special services and its perpetrators was identified, the intelligence service emphasized.

During a report to DIU chief Kyrylo Budanov, the commander of the “Timur Special Unit” stated: “Our side also received the corresponding amount of funds allocated by the Russian special services for the implementation of this crime. As of now, the commander of the RVC is on the territory of Ukraine and is preparing to continue performing the tasks assigned to him.”

Budanov congratulated Kapustin, who also joined the report via video link.

“First of all, Mr. Denys, I congratulate you on your return to life. It's always nice. I am glad that the funds received for ordering your elimination went to help our struggle. I wish us all and you personally success,” said the head of the DIU.

The commander of the RVC, codenamed White Rex, reported his readiness to continue performing combat and special tasks at the head of the unit.

“My temporary absence did not affect the quality and success of the combat tasks. I am ready to go to the area of operation and continue to command the RVC unit,” said the commander.
