Lubinets: Russians likely killed seven civilians in Pokrovsk

Ukrinform
Russian troops have allegedly killed seven civilians in Pokrovsk who were hiding in the basement of a residential building.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights, on Telegram.

“There are no limits to cruelty: Russians have likely killed seven civilians in Pokrovsk! I learned about this today from social media,” Lubinets said.

According to him, the Ukrainians were hiding in the basement of a residential building, where two Russian soldiers broke in. Two civilians, a father and son, came out to them, and the Russians demanded alcohol. When they were told that there was no alcohol, the invaders opened fire and killed the father and son.

"After that, the Russians went down to the basement and shot other people there. As a result, an entire family was killed — a married couple, their son, and the woman's mother! Only one wounded person managed to survive by pretending to be dead," Lubinets said.

This probably happened on the night of December 21.

"This case is shocking in its cruelty and cynicism. I have already sent official letters to the ICRC and the UN. The whole world must see the faces of the Russian soldiers who came to kill civilians! I emphasize that the events in Pokrovsk are not isolated. They are part of a systematic practice of violence that Russian troops are using against civilians in the temporarily occupied territories and frontline areas of Ukraine. The deliberate killing of civilians is a gross violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime," Lubinets stressed.

He stressed that impunity for such actions means only one thing — their repetition. Therefore, it is necessary to react here and now.

“I also urge citizens: please do not delay your decision — evacuate in time. I understand how difficult it is to make such decisions. But this is a chance to save your life,” Lubinets appealed to civilians.

As reported by Ukrinform, in the village of Shakhove, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region, Russian invaders shot two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who had been taken prisoner.
