SBU drones strike Russian oil production platforms in Caspian Sea third time over past week – source
This was reported to Ukrinform by a source in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
This time, the strike hit a platform at the Korchagin oil and gas condensate field. As a result of the SBU drone attack, critical equipment at the facility was damaged and production processes were halted.
"The SBU continues active operations that reduce the inflow of oil revenues into the Russian budget and, accordingly, its ability to finance the war against Ukraine. No Russian facility working for the war effort is safe, regardless of its location," an informed SBU source said.
As Ukrinform reported, on December 11 and 12, SBU drones had already struck the Filanovsky and Korchagin oil production platforms. The Filanovsky field is one of the largest discovered in Russia and in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. Its reserves amount to 129 million tonnes of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas.
