Russian forces hold only scattered buildings in Kupiansk – military spox

This was reported on a television broadcast by Viktor Trehubov, Head of Communications for the Joint Forces Group, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Russians hold only individual buildings in the northern districts of the city. Their triumphant claims about capturing Kupiansk and advancing south are their own invented reality,” he said.

According to Trehubov, the contrast between Russian statements and reality became especially clear at the end of November.

“They claimed to control the entire town, but their units were cut off in the northern outskirts and struck precisely by our UAVs,” the spokesperson said.

Trehubov also described the tactics used by Russian forces as they attempt to penetrate deeper into the city. “Traditionally, these are small groups – about five people each. Many such groups may operate simultaneously, advancing from different directions like cockroaches,” he explained.

He also dismissed Russian leadership claims of encircling Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi alongside fifteen Ukrainian battalions as “absurd” and entirely fabricated.

As reported by Ukrinform, on December 8, 139 combat encounters between Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front line.
