Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the cooperation contract in developing air capabilities between Ukraine and Sweden was signed today and will pave the way for the transfer of around 100 Gripen fighter jets.
Zelensky said this during a joint press briefing with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson at the Saab factory, where the signing took place, Ukrinform reports.
"Today, as the prime minister mentioned, we have started the process for Ukraine to obtain Gripen aircraft. We expect that the future contract will allow us to receive at least 100 of these jets. We clearly understand that this is a [lengthy] process, and we clearly understand the financial foundation necessary to implement this important contract. We discussed this with the prime minister and with Saab's leadership. I am grateful to Sweden for its readiness to cooperate on this," Zelensky said.
