Canada’s Minister of Transport Chrystia Freeland will take on the role of Canada’s special envoy on Ukraine.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, CBC News reported this, citing its own sources.
“Longtime Liberal Chrystia Freeland is stepping down from cabinet, sources tell CBC News. Those sources, who spoke on the condition they not be named, said the Transport minister is taking up an envoy role related to Ukraine,” the report states.
The official announcement of Freeland’s new appointment is expected later today.
Chrystia Freeland was first elected to the Canadian Parliament in 2015 and has since held senior positions in the governments of Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney, including Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Finance.
