President Volodymyr Zelensky received a briefing from Air Force Commander Anatolii Kryvonozhko regarding the downing of drones.

According to Ukrinform, the head of state said this in his evening video address.

“Military reports have been coming in since the morning, including from the Air Force Commander about drone interceptions. The brazenness of the Russians is growing— they’ve been launching dozens of attack drones more frequently during daylight hours,” he said.

According to the President, Russia launched 150 drones overnight, followed by more than fifty in the morning and dozens more in the evening. Most of them were Shahed drones.

“Groups of Russian drone in our skies are essentially the background music to Moscow’s statements from China. It’s a blatant display of Russia’s disregard for global efforts to end the war,” Zelensky added.

The President noted that yesterday, Russian officials openly contradicted what President Trump had said about the need for a leaders’ meeting to bring the war to an end. Meanwhile, in China, Putin continues to spin his tales—claiming he bears no responsibility for the war.

Zelensky also reported a renewed buildup of Russian forces in certain frontline areas.

“He simply refuses to be compelled toward peace. Russia continues its strikes. Of course, we will respond. We will respond asymmetrically as well, to ensure Russia feels the consequences of its audacity,” he concluded.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on the night of August 2, Ukrainian air defense neutralized 120 out of 150 Russian drones. During the day, the Defense Forces shot down another 48 out of 53 drones.
