British intelligence explains why Russian army becomes active in the Serebrianskyi Forest

The Russian army is reducing its activity in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions due to the redeployment of forces, while increasing pressure in the Serebrianskyi Forest area.

This was reported on social media X by the UK Ministry of Defense, citing intelligence data, according to Ukrinform.

According to intelligence reports, Russian military activity in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions has decreased as the Russian Ground Forces are redeploying some of their forces to other areas. This is most likely part of an attempt to increase pressure on priority areas, particularly in the Donetsk region.

"Open source reporting indicates that in the last two days, Ukrainian forces successfully conducted counter attacks to the west of Kupiansk, an important logistical hub in Kharkiv oblast. Russia had made significant gains in efforts to envelop Kupiansk over the last month," the British intelligence noted.

According to the report, over the past ten days, Russian troops have advanced in the north of the Donetsk region and are fighting for the Serebrianskyi Forest. The Russian army has strengthened its positions along the Siverskyi Donets River.

"RGF are almost certainly using the forest as partial cover against uncrewed aerial systems with a likely eventual objective towards Yampil, approximately 10 km west of their current position. If Yampil is captured, it will likely serve as a potential launch point for assaults onto the city of Lyman, a key rail logistics hub 9 km north west of Yampil," the post reads.

At the same time, according to analysts, the Pokrovsk sector remains a priority for Russia, where most Russian attacks are taking place compared to other sectors.

As reported by Ukrinform, according to the Dnipro Operational-Strategic Group of Troops, Russian troops have become more active in the area of the Serebrianskyi Forest.
