Russian attack causes partial power, water outages in Sumy

Ukrinform reports this, citing the Telegram channels of the municipal utility company Miskvodokanal of the Sumy City Council and the regional energy provider Sumyoblenergo.

“Due to the enemy attack and power supply interruptions, from 18:05 on September 1 one of the city’s water intakes was de-energized. Water supply is temporarily unavailable for residents of Peremohy Avenue neighborhood, the village of Pishchane, Veretenivka, Topolianska Street, and nearby areas,” Miskvodokanal said in a statement.

The utility company noted that energy workers were working to resolve the issue and assured residents that water supply would be restored as soon as the situation stabilizes.

Later, Miskvodokanal reported: “Since restoring power will take some time, the de-energized water intake will be switched to emergency backup power.”

It added that water in the affected areas would be supplied with reduced pressure for the time being.

Meanwhile, Sumyoblenergo confirmed via Telegram that Russians struck critical infrastructure in Sumy.

“As a result of Russian strike on Sumy’s critical infrastructure, the regional center has been partially de-energized. The electricity distribution outage is temporary. Energy crews are working to restore supply!” the company said.

As reported, early on September 1, a Russian strike on critical infrastructure in Sumy region left the town of Shostka and nearby area without electricity.
