23,000 civilians remain in active combat area in Donetsk Region

In the Donetsk Region, 23,000 civilians remain in the active combat zone, including 113 children.

This was announced at an online briefing by Dmytro Petlin, Director of the Department of Civil Defense, Mobilization and Defense Affairs of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“23,000 people remain in communities classified as active combat zones, including 113 children,” Petlin said.

The children remain in the Lyman city community (108 children) and Toretsk (five children).

The Regional Military Administration notes that there are currently 18 such communities in the region: Shakhove, Maryinka, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, Chasiv Yar, Bakhmut, Soledar, Zvanivka, Siversk, Illinivka, Kostiantynivka, Udachne, Lyman, Hrodivka, Kurakhove, Ocheretyne, and Novoselivka.

Petlin also reported that over the past week, more than 2,500 people were evacuated from their permanent places of residence in the Donetsk Region to areas outside the region.

In total, more than 1 million 238 thousand civilians have been evacuated from the territory of the Donetsk Region controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, of which about 193 thousand are children and more than 46 thousand are people with disabilities.

About 265,000 civilians currently remain within the region controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, Petlin added.

As reported, the mandatory evacuation of civilians in the Donetsk Region has been ongoing since August 2, 2022.
